This was the killer question/request, which on here is probably a bad move if it's your first post for critique.

Most people (I hope?) tend to get a feel for a forum first, type of posters, range of knowledge etc, before opening themselves up for instant onslaught of critisism.

Yes, some/most of the posters here a kids, but why should you go easy on them just because of that fact? Why pu[ss]y foot about? It's not like he's going to get the response "Wow, that's the world's greatest thing since sliced bread/sex/chocolate/zeldman"!

If your gonna post your work/site/blog/mothers photo on the interweb in a public forum with little moderation, then you've accepted the fact that people will be constructive/destructive/sarcastic/bitter/flamed etc about what you've posted.

Usefull link btw: Design Theory

And why disollusion the poor fellow. His site is the first point of call for his work, it should reflect this, but it doesn't (bit like my own site) and therefore doesn't hold out much hope for the rest of his work on first immpressions.

Christ, some people here takes things way too seiously for their own good. Get over it!

I was actually posting a link to a site which may help him. Trying to offer some constructive criticism. Tho what with my PC being a bit of a mess at the moment, I've not got time to go through his whole site to give more specific advice, but that Google site linked nicely to pages about how to design web sites using accessibility standards and usability guidelines.

Before mocking people who post here - and most of them are pretty young - it should be mandatory to post your first ever attempt at a website for comparison. I can't help thinking that this sort of stuff is a bit pathetic: people have to start somewhere, why not just let them get on with it?

Was it really your intent to help? Or were you just trying to infer that the website was crap and the creator needed to learn how to design in an amusing way?
I guess we'll never know the answer and I dont suppose it matters anyway.

No, because that search I've just pointed him to actually has links to sites which will be of use to him.

If you can think of a link to a Google search for one of my queries, I would be more than happy. I normally google for things before asking here anyway - just with some things (namely Linux) I don't really know what to google for cos I don't know the terminology or similar.

Just wondering, next time you have a problem with PHP, should we just snigger at your efforts and tell you to google for "Learn how to program" ?
