I’ve been working on a new site design for my little arty site I like doing. I’ve been fiddling about for a while now with new ideas and I came up with this, now before you look it’s meant to be nicer on the eyes rather then super easy to navigate and find information.
This is the first page and the general look

I did put some nice rollovers where the links are in the top right but they decided not to work and I had to just settle for normal ones for now.
Then this is what the links when you click them will have at the end of them

Nice topbar style, but that image is pretty impractical:
a) I'm guessing you didn't make it, and you'll probably need permission from whoever did make it to use it on your site.
b) Assuming you did make it, it's much too large, and will drag the speed of your site through a hedge backwards.
c) It severely limits what you can do with the bulk of your page. Pretty much the only colour that won't clash with it and will be visible over the top is white, which means all your text, content borders and content dividers have to be white.
It looks to me like you've tried to model your site on your desktop.

Just Flash and notepad. What you've got there is a nice, simple design that'll work really well with a tiny amount of input.

Depth core, spoono and deviant art are like the kings of the design world.

That nearly killed my 56k modem, but then I was visiting someone's artwork site, so what would you expect? Maybe you should make it more like a gallery, then we can select when we want our modems to be done up both ports?

Then you could animate the menus better, that inner menu could be dragged and dropped all around the place, and your user can have a nice little loading bar when they select a piece of work to view, and even for the main area to load. I'll even make it for you, because that sort of thing takes 5 minutes, and I really like that design.

It's all nice and everything, but, imagine if your viewer was on 56k.
