If you're going to put a forum on your site, ask yourself several questions. Firstly, what will be discussed on said forums, secondly who will be discussing this topic and thirdly, how many other sites do the same thing only bigger, and better?
By the time you've thought about these 3 questions, I'm pretty sure you'll be put off having a forum.

Unless you have a large and relatively interesting site then having a forum is the virtual equivalent of giving yourself a good punch to the crotch.
