Windows has been asking me to download this for ages but ages ago when it was first released someone (On this forum) told me not to download it, so can anyone tell me whether I should or not?

It says it reduces the risk of viruses, worms etc so why should I download it?

Thanks!

I installed it, and have not had any problems with it at all. As far as I'm aware its a firewall upgrade, with a few little bits. Seems to do its job. Someone will probably be able to tell you what it does better that I have :^)

I don't think you can uninstall SP2.

You can uninstall it. My recommendation is to setup a System Restore point before you install it. Also, backup all your data if you can, and uninstall any firewalls you currently have on your PC.

SP2 limits what you can do with your computer, some bits are sensible like limiting the assecibility of certain vital functions of the running of the cpu, but it has a major issue with drivers. For example you will see a lot of products like mobile phone data cables saying not compatible with SP2. I think its interesting that they calld it sevice pack 2, i cant remember sevice pack 1, did they just call it "2" so that people would think that they have already had one service pack so this one would be ok... or is this my conspiracy thikning mind taking over...
