And at an event to commemorate his life, rare footage of this stand-up visionary is to be screened, including the first British outing of the documentary Outlaw Comic.

There will also be home movies of Hicks impersonating Elvis, the pilot edition of his unmade TV show Counts Of The Netherworld and a recreation of the infamous routine that was banned from the David Letterman talk show - to Hicks' disgust and Letterman's shame.

The show, which also includes live sets from Brendon Burns, Mark Steel and Glenn Wool, takes place in Jongleurs in Camden, north London, on February 27, the day after the anniversary of his death.

The £25 tickets, which will raise money for the Bill Hicks Wildlife Foundation, are available from 0870 7870707.

As it is my priority, I'm afraid I won't pay that much to see a comic I've long since outgrown....

Yes, that was a joke.

Anyhoo, Mrs Light is moving in that weekend which rules me out. Wouldn't have minded seeing Mark Steel; the Mark Steel Lectures are always ace.

Though I love the Hicksmeister, this sounds like an exercise in ching ching ching, cashing in. Still, I might try and get tickets, what else am I going to do? Whinge and moan like an impotent jerk on the internet, about how much life sucks, and how we're all going to grow old and die some day?

I'd love to hear Hicks views on todays screwed up world. I really would.

S'alot of £, but The Outlaw Comic & Brendan Burns is worth it for moi, and only 40 mins away.

Light, you can't come unless you wear a big sign around your neck saying "Financial Security for me & my partner is my priority"
