So I was on a two day 20 mile hike since Monday in the Mourne Mountains for the Duke of Ed thing. Pretty damn cold at night, even in your sleeping bag with a big coat on. And I kept getting punched by my companions during the night because I snored extremely loudly, supposedly. We suffered a casualty on Monday as a chap named Mark got his foot caught going down a mountain. The other foot slipped on mud and the weight of the rucksack plus his momentum kept him going forward quite quickly.

I heard a sharp crack, a ragged scream and then he collapsed in a pile of rushes. Pretty damn funny, but helping him the next 4 miles to base camp wasn't. Anyway I now have a cold and am feverish. I was unwell at the start but I had to go on this practice hike. T'was good craic anyhow.
