Here follows a very simplified perspective:

It's difficult to understand how people now vote Tory. I assume the main cause is selfishness and a possible kneejerk reaction that's somehow carried on jerking for 30 years in some people.

There are so many reasons not to vote for them even as a protest vote.

1) They usually go on about lowering taxes. This is not always a great thing especially coming from a party that has run down the NHS and privatised off a lot of things that worked better before they were privatised.

2) Major privatisation (see 1)

3) Trust. They are the least trustworthy party, they haven't changed - underneath it's still the same party of crooks who'd sell their grandmother.

4) Backwards attitudes. Thankfully this appears to be costing them even more voters (even from their hardcore set) with their proposals to scrutinize foreign wives of british citizens.

5) They haven't changed (see 3). It's the same party underneath and (hopefully) no promise of taxcuts is going to persuade people to vote for a party that's caused many of the problem society still struggles with today.

6) Whatever Labour's mistakes you just know the Tories would have made worse ones. Labour's the lesser of two evils.

7) The Liberal Democrats are better for protest votes. They seem to be good caretakers and seem to make a good job of things (next to the other two anyway).

Anyway, these are obviously extremely simplified points, but I've made them in the interest of having a decent discussion.

Nova's quick guide to voting

1) If you like the way things are going, with the exception of IRAQ, vote for a sensible right wing party, vote labour
2) If you want to vote for the nazis vote tory
3) If you want to scare labour, vote Lib Dem
4) If you want to have a laugh, vote for kilroy, that guy cracks me up, he doesnt seem to understand that party names that dont appear in modern language dont work, also hes against imigration so why have a name that could bring on a reaction "sounds foriegn t' me, im goin down t' read the daily mail and they'll tell me who to vote for"

I don't vote because I don't know which of the available parties would do the job best, and it's too important a decision to be made in ignorance. I know this doesn't stop anyone else, but it does stop me.

Yeah, I know.

But I get sick of hearing about it. There's nobody I'd put in power and really, the closest ever constituency was decided by 2 votes, my one doesn't count for crap. And if spoil my ballot, that means even lass.

So, if you dont vote, and try to change what you disaprove of, why do you whine about it? Thats just bitching. Further more, tell me, isnt voting our duty, i mean, people have died for the right for us to have in power whomever we choose. A bit cheesy i know, but still dead on?

What ever happened to the Hedfix/Clazon MSN political debates???

:'{

There isn't a chance in hell that I would vote for a party run by Michael Howard. He was slime before and he's come back doesn't make me think he's any less slimy. It's a shame because his wife looks like a nice woman. Maybe he is a nice person inside, but I really doubt it. He has a family after all...

We've seen how the Torys screw things up and we've seen Labour rebuild England from the state it was left in. Although Labour screw up, they screw up less and less worse than the blue. Having said this, I wouldn't vote for New Labour.

I'm waiting for a new, true socialist party. Otherwise I'll start one.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.

Every time I see the clip I can't help but burst into a fit of laughter.
