Okay, so the mad banner challenge is over. I think big respect needs to go out to everyone who managed to create decent banners and keep them under 15k! Anyway the winning banners that we have decided to put up on the site are:

UKCheats Banner - ("Whipped by Wario...") - By Armitage Shanks
http://www.fuji-image-service.fsnet.co.uk/ukcheats/mariocheats/15kad.gif

Maxx PC Banner - ("Loading...") - By Turbonutter
http://www.imagics.f2s.com/maxx.gif

GB Advance Banner - ("GB Advance + hands...") - By Er-no
http://www.er-no.fsnet.co.uk/banner1.gif

Notables Election Banner - ("Who will be the sixth notable...") - By Er-no
http://www.er-no.fsnet.co.uk/banner2.gif

These banners have been put up on the site to see how well they do. All of the clicks are monitored by our admin system which can tell us who clicked on it, so don't even think about clicking your own banner hundreds of times!
Also we need these banners to be genuinely successful to make this a proper marketing exercise, as sometimes the banners can look amazing but it doesn't mean anyone will click on them... (trust me on this one..!)

Any of the above banners that reach 0.5% click through in the first week will win a Filmaday prize, and if both of Er-no's banners reach over 0.5% than he can claim a Gameaday prize.

Anyway, Thanks and well done to everyone who took part.

Cheers.

Mark.

I know you won't see this yet but i'll do it now while it's fresh in my mind,

Actually ask it, to create a banner do you have to have a website to make them or can you just make them on html or whatever???

The thing is that i don't know how to do the animation, can anyone tell me and then i will be able to make them, i'm usually good at figuring stuff like this out but i'm busy learning how to make games on C++.

So if anyone can help, post it

thanx :P

Banners are just animated GIF's

Animated GIFs are just like flips books... or cartoons... a series of frames/indivitdual pictures...

Theres loads of Trial/Shaeware/Freeware GIF art proggies out there...

Paint Shop Pro comes with a sturdy animation package, Ulead's proggy is often stuck on mag CD's, Macromedias got one...

learn how to make games in C... then move onto C++,

Learning C is easier than C++

Learning C++ after learning C is much easier than learngin C++ straight away...

My first banner is on here:

www.srbanners.homestead.com

Take a look, I couldn't make it as good as I wanted because of the file size limits and it took me just half hour after school. I didn't know how to do them before!

Well anyway, I may add more soon but take a look at this first one.
