I'd avoid BenQ cd writters. They are cheap but its because they are rubbish.

The DVD Rewriters for laptops are all standard, I believe, so why not get an internal one for that if it will take one?. It would certainly be easier to have one built in for portability and I'm not sure without looking about the power supply for an external one, you might want to look at that. Do you have USB 2.0 on your laptop as well, no point otherwise.

I'd certainly er on the side of the internal one. If not, go with the PC one. I recommend the NEC models.

I'll just slip this in..

Should I get a free standing DVD rewriter for my laptop or a DVD recorder to go with the pc?

I have Sonic RecordNow on the pc, just need the drive.

Where can I pick one up on the cheap, preferrably about £30 or under for the laptop drive and around £40 or less for the recorder.

All help appreciated..

Depends what connectors the sound system has. If you're lucky it'll have a Digital Co-axial connector. Then you just need the relevant cable, and that's it.

If it's just a stereo or Dolby Surround system, you'll need to connect the left and right AV Output leads (red and white) to the sound system.

What's the model number of it? Better still, can you take a photo of the back of the sound system and send a link to it?

I have a Liteon DD-A110 and struggling to connect up my alba 5.1 speaker system (all this is new to me)

Could someone give me a basic connection diagram to connect my DD-A110 to 5.1 sub woofer and all

Very good price, I'm tempted by it myself. Have to save that link when I can be bothered with buying anything online! X^D

Parental lock :O

I still don't see the point in parental locks for DVD players.

Excellent choice, sir!

Looks good. And Wharfdale are supposed to be quite a good make. Go for it. For that price you can't complain.

And it has all the standard Optical out connections should you wish to hook it up to a decent Dolby Digital setup.
