She's far more down-to-earth than most artists, completely lacking in any pretence and very talented.

Come to think of it Lose My Breath is the only one i can listen to, all the others have become irritating, i was thinking more about Beyonces singles barring the terrible Crazy In Love.

I think Whitney Houston killed subtlety, everyone marvelled at her octave spanning voice for a couple of years and then Mariah Carey decided she could do better and so on and so on, it's one big competition now to see who can wring the most notes out a word. I'm not a great fan of Kelly Osbourne but when she was taking the #$@& out of Aguilera singing the american national anthem she was right, for gods sake just sing the bloody song and leave your ego at the door.
Destiny's Child aren't as bad as the aforementioned and have had some not terrible songs.

this being the primary factor in my loathing of Destinys Child, who seem to follow the rule "why sing it, when you can OVER-sing it?".
most of their mid-8's sound like vocal exercises with a royalty attached.

Joss Stone is pretty good in my opinion, not really the kind of thing i'd go out of my way to listen to, but she has a cracking voice and she took an awful White Stripes song and made it less crap. that takes skill ;)
