I wish stupid firms like sony and Microsoft would leave the games market to sega and nintendo.
Ok sony make good electrical products but i dont see a sega TV in my house. Without microsoft i would not be connected to the internet or even own my PC but i'm not typing on a Nintendo Keyboard.
What i'm saying is Sony and Microsoft should stop trying to take over every market possible and give real companys the space they need to work.
What next sony brand food. Microsoft after-shave.

I wish they would stop as well. I think 3 different formats on the market is more than enough. I find it frustrating to actually having to take a gamble with my hard earned dosh regarding which system to invest in, as it could be redundant or 2nd league in less time that it took to save the money for it. ( see dreamcast). If I go into a shop, I want to be able to buy good games and not be limited by platform.
Regarding the monopoly - is anyone complaining about PCs being a Monopoly ? They are just a Platform on which Software can be loaded and used. Can't games consoles be the same ? There is still better and faster PCs being produced, even though they don't change fundamentally. Anyone remembers the times of AtariST and Commodore Computers ? Gone... I can't wait until someone introduces a Standard format into Games Consoles, and developers will have to concentrate on producing good games not on promoting the latest x-y-z-box.
Now then...Bill gates already has the monopoly on the Operating System for PCs - do we want him to set the standard for Games Consoles ??? I didn't think so.

When did making cames consoles become a club?... and if thats your argument, then wernt Nintendo and Sega rude for taking the market away from intelliveision and Artari?

Also is Nintneod are so good at consoles.... why sis they ask Sony to help them develop the SNES+ (which became the playstation)...

Equally If Sega are so skilled, why have they had to stop Dreamcast production?

It strikes em that the vido console market is an open playuing field... you sound like either a disguntled Sega fan or a worried Nintneod owner...

f you dont think Sony or Nintendo can make decent consoles, then why worry, Sega and Nintnedo will beat them, and everything will return to normal...

Equally... what Genres have Nintendo or SEGA ever greated?... Its strickes me that computers are the place where genres start off, and if successful are taken up by consoles?

Havne we been here before? A PC is a glorified X-Box not the other way around! :) ...

Equally the specifications and structural requirments of PC's and consoles are pretty much excatly the same... take away the mouse, harddrive and keyboard... and a PC is a console... add a mouse, keyboard, harddrive to an X-Box, PS2, Dreamcast, GC and you have a PC... not an IBM compatible PC, or even a very good PC, but a PC nontheless...

I think it is awesome and you should not just put 5,000,000 of them out there and only some people can get them, I think you should release a lot of them and make a lot of them so all of the people can get one. Unlike the Playstaion 2 they only released 500,000 and nobody I know got one. I think it is a great idea that you guys invented this and I hope I will be able to get one because it will be so much better and funner than any other game system out there. so I hope you think what I think because that playstation 2 was unfair.

I think this will be the best system out and i want it so bad but i don't think i can affort it so i hope i win this thank you.

To make a comment like that you're living in the past I'm afraid.
1) sony made the industry what it is. Figures for last year show that the games industry is now worth more than the music industry. Now do you really think this industry would be where it is without Sony? Sony made it and we really should be grateful as it was they who really opened up a new form of entertainment. Sega and Nintendo of old were kiddies machines and fairly so but it was sony who really saw the potential and created the industry and now Microsoft are adding another level. I don;t particualry like Microsoft but if anything they will bring even more people into an expanding industry
2) Microsoft entering is a good thing. If anything else more contenders mean more competition and game companies know that they are consitently going to have to produce better better and better developments to compete. If anything Microsoft will give the industry a further boost by making Sega, Nintendo and Sony work even harder for their machines and make the third party developers work even harder and prouduce better better and games
Now I have many more points but I'm too tired to make them so I'll return tomorrow and if needs be make them!

Sorry? Gamers yes, it certainly got adult gamers going, but genres? No, certainly not.

Ok, so Sony and Microsoft pull out...this leaves only Sega and Nintendo with any power in the market. Now, Sega back off and stick to making games for Nintendo. Oh look, Nintendo have a complete monopoly on thew market, with no-one else too keep them on their toes and force them to keep excelling...We don't need a Microsoft situation starting, and without the PlayStation a whole market of gamers would never have got started, which also inspired some great new games, and genres.

The Ps2 and the Xbox are remarkably simular in looks.
