Was supposed to be a puff-piece for the recording of the new album from Metallica, but with their bass player walking out prompting a host of problems it turns into watching a band disintegrate before your eyes.
It's excellent, even if (like me) you used to enjoy their music before the Black album turned them into Bon Jovi and they started wearing mascara and boas.
It's especially interesting/amusing if you're in a band, because you'll see the same discussions and arguments from a multi-million selling band that you've had endlessly.
Interesting to hear Newstead's side of things, why he left and the ensuing chaos of them not talking/dissing each other.
And if you're a Metallica fan from way back, it's fantastic to see Ulrich talking to Dave Mustaine after 15yrs.
Excellent to see Hetfield berate Ulrich for playing really bad drum patterns, amusing to watch Ulrich bellow into his face.
It's basically 2hrs of Hetfield shouting at Lars, Hammet sitting quietly and being effete, Lars shouting #@%& a lot and some pyscho-analyst telling them to embrace the fog whilst Bob Rock sighs and doesn't care.
Oh, and if you didn't think Ulrich was a tubby tennis pro who gurns like a Scally in a full-blown E gurn? Watch him get moody about Napster stealing his songs, yet makes $5,000,000 from the sale of some of his art collection. Yeah, Napster really hurt you didn't it?
The rest of the band played though, totally respected that, despite their drummer walking out hours before they still managed to put on a good set.

Yep, that was when I decided to download all of their albums.
Even the ones I have on CD already.
$5,000,000 for his paintings whilst he asks some waitress "Can we have more cocktails?" and laughs with his wife as he earns loads.
Put that next to the footage of him talking about still "being true to the principles we had when we started" and he's not only a really poor drummer but an ego-monster rockwhore
I've seen some of this, I love the analyst trying to convince them to continue their $20000 a week therapy or whatever.

Newstead gives his version, they give theirs. Newstead leaves voice-messages calling them "homos".
And Mustaine explaining to Ulrich why he regrets stuff and Ulrich nearly crying fat Danish tears.
If nothing else, seeing Trujillo rock more than all 3 of them combined made me flashback to watching Suicidal Tendencies play at Brixton in '90.
Fantastic, and he has the best rock-playing style ever.
Didn't realise both Newstead and Mustaine were in it mind.
