Yes white is the best. Mainly becuase it goes well with the blue glow of the screen and when it's edges light up.

I've got white, because Dixons (ashamed I am, but it was pure impulse) only had white and the fat man and transvestite woman were clueless.
But it's gorgeous. I think white/silver is the best bet.

iPod has both, as does my old 1G Zen.
1) I've just encoded it at 96kp, just by changing a setting (alters the size of files) - I think.
