"Silent Laptop Fan"

I've got a lovely Iridium S865 laptop and although it's great when it's silent, as soon as the fan comes on it sound as if a small aircraft is taking off. It's just unbearable when the fan goes full speed.

Is is possible to replace the fan with something quieter as it really is a pain in the ass when I want to work in the quite and I have to put up with this fan making a racket!

But, but a jumbo jet taking off is quieter than this thing when it's on full power!

I doubt it, the fans inside laptops are tiny, if they ran any quieter i doubt you'd get the required airflow.

Its very hard to replace the fan because in most laptops its fixed all attached into a long vent way kind of thing, and that's attached to the motherboard.

But if you have a look at the makers site and try and find detailed spec, you coud probably find out if there is a kind of fan it uses, and you might be able to find a store that sells that kind in silent versions.

I doubt you'll be able to find it though, i dont think they give out that kind of spec.
