you're an idiot.
musicians are allowed to have opinions without banging on about them all the time. if a more "political" band had produced that (RATM, Black Flag, etc) then no-one would care, but just because Green Day aren't renowned for political rants, people have this misconception that they're not ALLOWED to have an opinion on it.. which is clearly stupid.
Green Day have been consistantly good quality for about 15 years now, bar the odd song or 2, that's not a bad ratio. people just rag on them becasue they're an easy target in that when they GET a radio friendly tune, it gets overplayed and people get a bit sick of them ('Boulevard of Broken Dreams' is a fine example, if i never hear that again i won't mind)

Welldone shallow indie/new wave boy now finish off by humping some lampposts because it's 'art'.
Heard American Idiot on Kerrang and whatnot a few times, decent enough song, nice riff. Better than stuff like Basket Case and Time Of Your Life, anyway.

I haven't actually listened to the new album apart from hearing it when my Brother's been playing it, but the only 'political' song seems to be American Idiot. And why is them writing about the extreme situation of the time any reason to hate them?
Granted, it may have been a somewhat 'fashionable' time to start writing 'political' songs, but hell, I'd prefer more bands writing and singing about such things than none at all.
Anyway, Green Day songs...
Going to Pasalacqua
Haushinka (sp?)
She
Brain Stew
Macy's Day Parade
Waiting
Oh, and Longview / Basket Case / Welcome to Paradise should pretty much be a given. I have all their albums except the new one which I really should do at some point to check out. All are worth getting though (possibly not 'Shenanigans' but thats a B-sides album anyhoo...)
