Why is it that in this country everything is so expensive? In the US pretty much every game is £10-£20 cheaper, depending on the platform. The ps2 was around £40 cheaper over there, and from something i read it seems to have the Hard Drive built in, which is another big saving.
The worst bit is the PAL encription system. I dont know the reason for this(so i could be completely wrong),but the only use i can see it has is forcing us to spend more than everyone else. WHY?

PAL is NOT encryption. It is the way TV data is sent. PAL is MUCH BETTER TV QUALITY than NTSC (american tv system). That's why it is used. (americans don't use it because it was invented after they set up tv networks.)

The problem is, thet games for Europe (inc UK) have to be recoded in a number of ways. Firstly, PAL tvs have more "lines" on the screen. This means that u are either left with black borders at the top of the screen, or time is needed to code it. Also, since europe is all one market, games have to be coded in many languages!

The reason games are cheaper.... engish people are idiots who have come to pay whatever price people ask! Why not just import... most people don't even know of the option! Game from abroad are cheaper, faster (NTSC runs in 60HZ, PAL in only 50, except for the DC games of course :) !), and games also come out earlier abroad in general.

Here's some reasons:

1. 17.5% VAT
2. Import Duty
3. Rates on shop premises
4. Fuel Duty.
5. Stealth tax.
6. Employers NI.

The latter is the 10% tax which every employer has to pay on every employee's wages. (the invisible income tax)
