So I've been made manager of a technical team at a Software firm. Nothing permanent, and I should be back to my old job soon.

However...

I have NEVER been so bored. There's nothing to do, and I actually find myself wishing I have work to do. My GOD managers have it easy. The next time your manager complains about all the hard work they do, look them squarely in the eye and pronounce them a liar.

*sigh* I was once wild and carefree.

Then I had to go out and earn a living..........

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my job, I'd just rather be back at school studying A levels with a grand total of zero responsibilities like providing food and a roof over my head for myself.

[edit] Come to think of it I'm still pretty wild, it's just the carefree part that's taken a backseat. Seriously hungover at work with a deadline looming is a nasty place to be......

Heh. Chances of that happening to me whilst I'm mates with Goatboy? Nil.

Mrs Light has already been told that any and all DIY type stuff is her sole preserve and I retain the right to not show the remotest interest in it (thank God).

But management blows. Happily, I should only be here for two more days.

I was wild and carefree once... now I'm just mild and hair-free.

(I hope someone's writing these down)

Tis a sign of surrender to the suburban nightmare so many rage against yet find themselves in Homebase with a toddler and a wife, looking vaguely uneasy and unhappy whilst they try to figure out just how the hell they ended up there when, last time they looked, they were wild and carefree.

T'is true. I'm always catching my boss playing cards or browsing the internet but he rarely catches me.

... and GB - leave Volvos out of it!

I worked less than my old boss when I was an office drone.
I outlasted 3 bosses, all of whom gave me warnings for not working yet were sacked.
I spent 80% of my day on the internet and the rest in the kitchen smoking.
It was a doss yet dull as hell, I climbed into the top posters here with scary monotony.
Thank christ I got out.

My old lesbian manager used to dump all her work on her deputy (and I do mean all, even stuff like doing the register) then would sit there, swivelling on her chair complaining about being bored... whilst pulling in 15 quid an hour or something.

I KNEW it.

I swear responsibility means "watch everyone else work"
