So I've been made manager of a technical team at a Software firm. Nothing permanent, and I should be back to my old job soon.

However...

I have NEVER been so bored. There's nothing to do, and I actually find myself wishing I have work to do. My GOD managers have it easy. The next time your manager complains about all the hard work they do, look them squarely in the eye and pronounce them a liar.

Deal (they're both knocking on a bit anyway...)

If you start with Britain, then I have to work for you. In which case... you've ended up as a manager.

I'll give up my next payrise if I get Heather Locklear AND Tiffani Thiessen. Deal?

Pha. You'll all bow before my kill-o-death ray once I get the damn oscillation sorted out. I think I may need to use another 240v socket.

Heh. Actually, I'll never be happy until I'm the unchallenged ruler of the world.

A chap has to have a hobby. Global domination is mine.

Wild is having a weekend long drinking binge and then re-enacting Halo co-op on Buchanan Street in Glasgow, preferably on a Saturday afternoon.

Carefree is being able to go out to lunch and ending up in Norway for a short break, without having been home first.

But yeah, I don't want to end up like my boss. However chances of that are approximately nil anyway for a few reasons. The first being that the group captain is never going to allow me a position of any more responsibility, he'd rather have to fight me with his bare hands than allow that. Something about my attitude.

Face it Light, you can never be truly happy until both FF and Belldandy both have complete makeovers.

Most stupid management story I have is the time I worked at an IT support place, which didn't even solve IT problems! The job of the department was simply to log the calls, and provide no technical support whatsoever - I even got told off for helping someone once! They had 3 managers and 1 supervisor, who did nothing but send Nazi-esque emails all day, to run a team of 10 middle-aged women, a Sikh bloke called George, and me, the 'technical guy'. The most 'technical' thing I did, and this is serious, is empty some cells in an Excel spreadsheet. I got £8.10 an hour for that.

I somehow got the blame for not enough people ringing the helpline to make having that absurd amount of management worthwhile, too. No wonder I started going home for lunch and not coming back. And let us not forget the time my "doctor" advised me to see my "optician" because of my "migraines". Got through a lot of GTA3 during that particular job.

I think a lot of people can be wild - it's just wild equates to different things than to be carefree and 'stick it to the Man'......

The MD of the company I used to work for was notorious at HO for spending all day either bumbling or playing solitaire. I didn't think much of it until I was called up there to frantically help prepare the new office for its official opening by the Mayor and the local MP, only to find that most of the time I was there he was playing card games on his computer :0|

Snap. Although I dunno if I've ever been carefree. I've always been the annoying little twunt who gets his knickers in a twist about whatever is wrong with the world.
