Liverpool can't even afford morientes, the only way I can see him going is if Real Madrid lets him go for cheaper than what other clubs are offering. To me that would indicate bad business of Real's part and can't see it happening.

true but even if you didn't have the cash at pool, i'd consier selling gerrard for 20 mill + parker (pretending he's not injured) considering you could have: parker, Aimar, morientes + a defender for the money. As they'd be a much better team.
(3-2)-2-1-2 could be an interesing posibility. (3 cente backs, 2 wing backs, 2 in the centre midfield, 1 creative in the hole, 2 upfront)

nah get both! sell a couple of players or use some of the summers budget and get both, probably get them both for 16 or 17mil from what i have heard and both are world class so its well worth it.
Morientes is what most ood clubs ned he isn't an amazing alround player he is a van nistelrooy type, in that he nearly always seems to be in the right place at the right time to poke the ball home and would be well suited to liverpool.
Aimar is a very good player can supply a great pass and whack in a few beauties as well! Liverpool lack a flair player rally as kewell doesn't seem to want to play football and would rather sleep. may as well buy both now and jus get a couple of defenders in the summer rather than wait and get the poor pickings in the summer when the competitionfor top players is huge.

Argentines don't adapt well to the Premiership. They get scared by the cold and the tackling and start diving all over the place. With even more frequency.

Aimar is better money spent if rafa is looking long term though. Mellor and pongolle are showing they can score goals at the moment and when Cisse comes back you'll have 4 decent forwards.
Aimar is a genius who can turn games in an instant, as arsenal have found out in the champions league on more than one occasion :) He's just been unlucky with injuries of late.
