Whats the difference between a stocking and presents?

When i had a stocking, the 'presents' were the gifts that didn't fit in the stocking

I got, money (£95, average), clothes, DVD (LOTR Return of the King Extended DVD special box set with 4 DVD's plus added extras such as the making of and directors cut, ha), iBook (top spec, heh), drunk ( just got back) and a selection box.

Average christmas, i miss the days of beleiving in santa.
