Ok, so it might not get near Gene Wilder's dangerous-eyed portrayal but still, Tim Burton/Johnny Depp/Roald Dahl.

The trailer looks suitably odd and menacing.

A makeup girl I worked with on my first film was working on the Charlie and the Chocolate factory. There's a cast and crew screening of our film in the new year so hopefully I'll be able to find out a thing or two about the flick.

Looks very interesting. Is near the top of my 'films I want to see' list.

Sincerely looking forward to this, but I'm expecting reviews to take the "not as good as original" tag and stone the movie down.

Not that it's ever going to upset Burton, he's in a world of his own.

Looks a bit...er...iffy? Don't really dig Depps whackiness, to be honest. Not in Edward Scissorhands, not in Chocolat, not in Pirates of the wotsit.

Half of me thinks this could be good, because Depp is awesome and the source material is so good.

But then the other half of me thinks... why remake a film that in no way needs to be remade? I'm not one of those babies who sobs into their anime t-shirts when a remake is announced, because it's been proved in recent years that it can be done properly. But Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? It can't be half as mental as the original, surely.

Oh yeah, four words for you:
