There's too many topics being posted (this being one of them!) and they just clog up the forum and increase the need for Popping.

Some people are posting up to 6 topics a day!
I think that SR should lock it so there can only be one topic posted a day per member.

That way people would be more careful before they posted to make sure that it was worthwhile posting and that it had everything they wanted.

Then we'd have a much tidier forum :-)

Please do.

I mean, I abhor "banning" people, but he should at least be warned against spamming these forums.

I agree that I mostly post foolish nonsense, but it does offer something (if only comic relief), however, serious posts are not beyond me.

This is not an attack on newbies, and I appreciate a humorous post as much as the next guy.
But to limit posts to a set number a day seems a tad draconian.

I have tolerance beyond most for people, knowing how childish I can be, yet that particular person offers nothing of use whatsoever.

Anyhoo, enough of waving my finger at Guru - he's harmless enough, just incredibly stupid.

The forums are a way of communicating with others that share a common interest, and yes some threads stray from gaming, but they are 9/10 of interest in some way.

I've found that the other forums do stick to the specified topics, the FOG seems a general discussion board - which is cool, because games are about life and life is about games.

Wow, a slogan...I should be in advertising.

One word:

cheatguru

Ban him and halve the new threads started each day.

Not to mention save our sanity and, increase the literacy and grammar of the FoG ten-fold in one fell swoop, prevent flame wars, and - most of all - remove a thorn from Goatboy's side.

The thing is, i don't think may people actually check the other forums. There's a forum for console wars, but everyone puts them in the FoG.

What you could do is not allow any messages to be posted in FoG for a week or so. Say the server is down or some rubbish.

That would force people to use other forums instead. At the moment new users come along, and they see a huge amount of messages if FoG, so they just post everything in here.

I would be a bit concerned about setting limits, partly as some people might then think they should use up their limit each day and this could actually lead to more topics.

At the moment everybody clusters on FOG, but maybe there will come a time when there is some balance with one or two of the other forums.

I might organise some attempts to boost some of the other forums in order to split things a little. But for now we will wait for it to build up a little more.

I agree with Dan_uk about there being a limit on how many topics can be posted by a user in a 24 hour period.

I suggested this about 3 months ago Dan, and most people bite my head off, I suggested putting a limit on the amount of topics per user per week
