I've been knocked out before, and I've cracked my head open THREE (count 'em - three) times. Nothing special that would constitute as a near-death experience.

I fell off the bed and landed with my neck twisted and so couldn't breathe - took me about 10 or 15 seconds to free myself, by which time I was convinced I was going to die alone on the floor. And naked.
More an "out of bed" experience than an "out of body" one, but it changed my outlook on life dramatically nonetheless - not living everyday to the fullest (I did that anyway), but now I don't take any **** from anyone and it's great.
