A man has come to fix our washing machine. I showed him where it is and offereed him coffee and come back to my PC..

If you did let workmen into your house with 4 grand laying on the table you are incredibly stupid and lucky.
There are some good work men out there, honest and trust worthy, but whether they are a workman or not, you can't let strange random people in your house and say for definate that they won't steal from you.

you lot been going to wrong work men just had new heating put in it was 200 less than he said and gave us free stuff and fixed other problems and worked till 9.00 on a friday night !

Always a tricky one ... if you're too friendly, they'll take advantage of your hospitality and charge you too much. If you're not friendly enough, they won't fix it properly and will charge you too much.
i agree plenty of dodgy work men about but you can spot them a mile off !

When he came in he walked into my kitchen and put his bag down in front of the dishwasher. I just said 'actually thats the dishwasher. The washing machine is in the garage'

No I bloody wouldn't. But I don't trust workers some of them are too dodgy for my liking.
