My lessons have all been cancelled today because a guy who used to go to our school died in a pretty big car accident and ploughed through the wall of a pub.

It pretty much sucks, despite the fact I didn't really know the guy, the whole atmosphere is totally messed up.

I'm saddened but I'm not too sure why, perhaps it's because other people are sad about it.

Some people cried just to fit in, people who didnt even know him, that annoyed me.

See it was diana's death that annouyed me the most. Ok she did some nice stuff and brought attention to some people who needed help. But she had thousands of people crying in the streets for her she even got a nice big unsafe fountain. Yeah sure it's a shame she died and i feel sorry for william and harry for losing their mum but all the people crying didn't know her they just knew the public side of her.

Tell you what, when Diana died, my general cynicism surrounding people was born.......and the rest of the time, I profess to be all lovy and caring. Hoo.

Anyway, guy died in a crash a few weeks back, from my old school. Didn't know him really. And a guy killed himself at uni. Knew him. Ish.

It annouys me when people cry for a famous person. So what they made a load of money from something or they did some good stuff. But hundreds of people do good stuff but they don't all get the same treatment.

I think it's ashame when someone dies like the guy in the original post but unfortunatlly this happens alot.

hmmm, the same sort of thing happened at my school, a boy in year 8 died from a heart attack, no one in my year (Year 12) knew him but some of the girls actually cried, i felt a bit bad (mainly because we had all noticed him, he kept running around the halls bumping into people), but didnt cry.

damn right!
a guy i was at school with got run over and killed a coupla years ago here and my mum saw it in the paper.. she was trying to be all sympathetic and solemn but to be honest, i couldn't have cared less. that little gimp made my life hell and at school and the only thing i was sorry about was that it wasn't my foot on the pedal.

Dont people cry sometimes when they hear of others misfortunes because it perhaps brings memories of their own departed loved ones relatives/friends etc?

I'm going to a funeral on Saturday for my next door neighbour who died, which sucks, but I didn't cry when he died even though I knew him fairly well and he was a nice bloke. Possibly if it was more tragic (younger, car accident etc.) I'd be more affected.

When I die I don't want a funeral, though. I'd rather the people who would have paid for it to put their money together and give it to charity or something; possibly something to do with any health problem that led to my death. Or something like that.

Now I've gone way off topic...

Well, crying is just an alternative form for feeling sorry for many.
