I think some of the younger members will be answering this. What does each of the following terms mean?

To be "going out" with a person

and

"seeing" a person.

There is no sinister reason behind this. I just want to be able to follow the soap opera that is happening in the place where I work. I've got most of it but these terms have slightly different meanings so I'm led to believe. I want to know what all the fuss is about...

I meant sleeping with the person as in are they in a "relationship" or just "dating" and sleeping together. Don't think I worded it too well.

I knew this would give me a headache.

'Going Out' & 'Seeing' = same thing, dating as it were.

'sleeping with' = different meaning. Sexual relationship.

So now seeing someone is sleeping with them? Is this as in a "relationship" or just a case of "dating"?

Well I'm from Leeds. But I've heard people from all over the Country say both terms with the same implication.

They both mean 'dating someone' if that helps. The only different one would be 'sleeping together' which has an obvious meaning

seeing = you go out, meet up, chat (whatever else) but it's not to serious

going out = all of the above but you refer to her as girlfriend and alot more of your time is taken up

So that would be like say "dating" and then moving on to a "relationship".

Am I correct in saying this crossbob?

Pretty much the same where I live too. Although, to me - seeing someone is sleeping with them :)
