Alcoholism and the depression associated with it often leads to a breakdown of moral inhibitions, indiscreet or violent behavior, or loss of consciousness (drunkenness). Long-term drinking can terminally damage liver, pancreas, brain, or heart. Binge drinking on university campuses has caused instant death. It is estimated there are 14 million problem drinkers in the United States. Half of the fatal automobile accidents are caused by alcohol-impaired drivers. The annual cost of alcohol-related accidents, illness, violent crime, and loss of work time is estimated to exceed 100 billion dollars.

Yep, a lot of young people go out with the aim to get drunk and pull.

80% of people was a bad figure, yes, but I think I could comfortably say that the majority of young people...say 17-25 have getting bladdered as their main goal on a Friday/Saturday night. That is why I said a bottle. I like the taste of wine and have drunk a bottle before just for the taste. It didn't get me "drunk", but I could tell I had drunk it.
What about my Gran? She loves the taste of sherry, but just a sniff gets her giggling, (I'm not kidding).

I doubt that drinking one glass for the taste would be enough to get someone drunk. Therefore, I can't see this ever happening.
They would have to be very foolish and really, really like the taste in order to drink enough to 'accidentally' get drunk.

I'll have to agree on you on that half, people who go out and think they are 'cool' to get 'bladdered' all the time are just sad.
Yes, I have been drunk a few times in my life, but there again from my point of view I just felt I was enjoying myself.
