Thought I'd steal this idea from PC Gaming.

Dunno if anyone's done it all ready, but here's how it goes:

- 1 VOTE EACH
- ONLY GAMES RELEASED IN 2004 CAN BE CONSIDERED
- VOTES IN BOLD

And of course feel free to add why you support game or destroy someone else's suggestion.
:)

I'll keep a tally going. I start this now, because the year is drawing to a close and looking back, this year's been better than usual for decent games.

The categories are:

- SPORTS
- SHOOT 'EM UP
- RPG
- RACING
- PLATFORMER
- FOREIGN

and of course the golden coverted:

- OVERALL

Note:

GTA: SA amongst other games may not fit into a category. It will later be considered for the OVERALL best game though.

By who?

Whoever they are, they're wrong.

Well, I suppose there are similarities in that you can power-up your armour and weapons; it has RPG style aspects, but that's about it. It's far too fast, frantic and FUN to be an RPG. Primarily, it's definitely a platform game.

> You would prefer it be called...?

Well, I've seen it referred to as a 3D platformer, a 3D platform blaster, and just straight platform. It certainly has much more in common with Tomb Raider than Final Fantasy.

So yes, I'd say 'platformer'...

...as do Sony ( http://www.scee.com/software/ps2games.jhtml?localeTitleId=1054756 - "3D Action Adventure") and most importantly, the developers Insomniac ( http://www.insomniacgames.com/games/rc3.php - "Action platform genre").

But hey, this is your poll! Call it an RPG if you wish! :-)

Argh. I didn't call it an RPG!

I accidentally put it in there cos I wasn't looking at the category correctly ("platformer" was one down). I then made a crap excuse.

GET OFF MY BACK!
