Firstly, I have a problem which i'm sure has been asked about before, it seems quite common. EVERYtime i open a new IE window, up pops an incredibly annoying and equally useless blue toolbar saying "make money", "Music", "casino", "Investing", "travel", and "mortgage" on the left side, with various pulldown bars in the middle and a search thing on the right. Anyone had this problem and how do you get rid of it?! You can close it by clicking on the cross in the corner, granted, but rest assured it'll be back to p*ss you off the next time you want to access the WWW. Any help?

Also, I'm using a laptop for most of my daily computer needs, and, like all others, it has a standby function. Or it did. Until I disabled it. It's like this, one day I was happily standing it by, when it all went b*****-up. Everything crashed etc. blue screens. So I turned it off and the next time it was turned on, a little dialog greeted me, asking me if I'd like to prevent my laptop from going on standby in the future. I pressed enter, without thinking, and unwittingly told it, "yes". So now, I have to cold boot it ALL THE TIME...! Again, any help muchly appreciated. And don't rip the p**s [i]too[/] much.
By the way, im on windows 98 SE with an IBM T20 Thinkpad if that helps

No worries. It worked a dream for me too, what with this work PC being Admin-only secured, I didn't have many options (and shouldn't have been looking at porn), but it fixed it instantly :D

As for your Standby issue, sorry I can't help on that, I'm not all that good with the technical side of Laptops.

oh yes! Got rid of the b*stard! Ran GIANT then opened IE from the actual file, not the shortcut. No annoying little retarded pop up. So I've made a new shortcut from the file and I'm free of it forever! Thanks for all your help.

Thanks, have installed GIANT antiadware and it appears to have got rid of alot of popups i was taking for granted. However...The Oh So Annoying One is still lingering. Spose I can put up with it for a bit, and the program is really good. Anyone with an Adware problem should http://www.snapfiles.com/get/giantantispyware.html if they want the GIANT antiadware thing.

Now...any help with how to get my standby capabilities back? Although I am starting to get used to it, it would be nice to be able to. Even the Win 98 help is useless on this topic.

Look for a program called GIANT Antivirus, or something along those lines.

My work PC got infected with a similar pain in the ass.

Just use the GIANT trial and get rid of it via a full scan, including registry, you might even find more virii lurking in your files.

have installed and run Adaware, but it still pops up, upgraded to the latest definitions, no luck. Deleted various files. Nope. Why do they make these programs? Oh and i'm not an incompetent pc loser, I tried fixing this for ages before coming here. But I need help. Any suggestions on the standby issue?
Cheers for the suggestions.

http://www.lavasoft.de is the makers of Adaware and I advise you get rid of it as soon as possible.

The mysearchnow thing is spy/adware. Download Adaware for free to get rid of it.

Hmmm... you're not one of those business types that panics and declares Armageddon when their computer messes up, are you? Like on that IBM advert with the fat suit walking up to the "IT guys".
