Slipknot are what they are, they didn't become something they didn't want to, they didn't change where people wanted them to. They stayed the same, the way they wanted to be. A lot of there songs have meaning to this.
My plague stands for:
Corey hates those possers and people who want to become cool by not being who they are, and change for the likeing of others. He thinks they deserve to die.The quote "Kill you f666 you I will never be you" is directed to followers. People who are not being themselves, and trying to fit in by acting like someone else. The quote “I know why you plague me” basically means that he knows why people are f666ing with him and he is sick of it and of all the posers in this world; people doing things for popularity and so on.

When asked why "People=S#!t" Crahan says "We are what we are, we just waste and we ruin and we corrupt, and we destroy," .Human race is depleating itself of the simple pleasures in life and that everyone is now fake. Fake meaning people, society, everyone, is now pretending to be someone else. Not caring about others, and just themselves.

Oh and on an a semi-interesting note, one of my mates is into rock and I went with him to Rock City to see Stone Sour. Now the guy from Slipknott who is also in Stone Sour (sorry I don't like that kind of music enough to remember the guys name, I'm sure one of his groupies will correct me) was sat at the bar after the gig signing autographs and having his picture taken with fans.
Anyone who got a picture of him that night will also have my drunken mates fingers in shot as he 'bunnied' the guy on almost every picture which was taken, with him completely oblivious...

Slipknow are exactly what I used to listen to when I was a teen metaller/rocker/whatever the hell.
Just healthy noisy aggression for angry confused teens - nothing wrong with that at all.
I found my cassettes from college days last weekend and was sifting through them, chuckling at some of the bands I used to like:
Carcass, Deicide, Obituary, Pungent Stench, Bolthrower, Optimum Wound Profile etc etc.
Sure at the time I thought I was The Don with my long hair, leather jacket and practised sneer until I realised I looked...well...silly.
But it's a phase, and rather someone gets into thrash/death/speed metal than standing around outside McDonalds carparks and racing Vauxhall Novas up and down.
In my experience, metal kids are generally intelligent, literate and quiet people that happen to like that music because it allows them to express that hormonal anger in a safe way that doesn't harm others.
And I'll bet £ that a large group of metal fans down a park would be the first to help somebody in trouble, as opposed to beating up passers-by for fun.
I still listen to Slayer, Ministry, Pantera, Biohazard, Tool, White Zombie, NIN etc.
So he likes Slipknot - so what?
I bet thousands of people snigger at your favourite band.

Style= Confused mixture of nu-metal, thrash and death metal.
Extra Percussion, DJ etc= Not needed.
Image= Freaks.
Audience= Mostly under 18, despised by many serious metal fans.
If I want death metal, I'll listen to Gorgasm or Napalm Death. If I want thrash, I'll listen to Raven, Slayer or Metallica. If I want to listen to nu-metal, I'll probably hang myself. Slipknot are over-rated, although the latest album does have its moments, particularly "Pulse Of the Maggots" and the acoustic songs.
