For now, anyway. It was the reason I could no longer connect to steam.

Went to Steam Support, opened all the ports required and discovered X-Fire can affect your connection to Steam.

What do you know - I uninstalled it and now I can get back on Steam \o/

P.S To get your friends list working, open UDP port 1200. Should do it...

I got Xfire, and when I heard those bleeps every time someone sent a message, I was getting ready to throw my speakers out the window.
Then I changed my mind and went to options to switch them off.

Yeah, it's friends, but you can see friends of friends, and it's not limited to valve software. Dunno if theres a chat in steam but the xfire one is pretty good.

Sticking with Xfire.

Whenever I try anything Steam-related. I can access my other games fine.

Quite sucky really, since X-Fire was rather good.

I wonder how many other people are having this problem. I haven't had it yet.

is it when you try to just run steam? or is it also when you use shortcuts direct to games?

No worries. Still don't know if it'll definitely work, everyone on my list is still 'offline' :D

Aha, this has changed. I set up my static adress and port forwards using the site mentioned (www.portforward.com), but the steam ports were not 27015-27020. They were 6800 - something. It's been updated.

Belter. Might work now. Cheers for that.
