I'm trying to download itunes onto my new PC but when I open it up it doesn't find my iPod which is connected. It came up with something like "iTunes could detect your iPod but cannot find the software, please install the software from the CD that came with your iPod or go to www.apple.com/ipod/download".

So I went there and downloaded the update so that my iPod will work with the new iTunes 4.7 but what do I do now? I have a little icon on my destop saying "iPod update" but when I click on it, it says something like "Windows cannot open this file".

What do I do!!!?

You should've asked for the CD that comes with the iPod when it's new - that would've allowed you to re-format it so it'll work with Windows.

Go to Apple's site - http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ - and have a dig around to see how to do it. I've never used an iPod with Windows so I don't know how to solve your problems.

I ran the updater and restarted the machine. It still didn't work so I waited...and I waited...and I waited and then it popped up saying "Your iPod needs reformatting" so I clicked on update and nothing has happened?

GAAAAAHHH!

Help?

Also, have you changed the ipods format to windows, not mac, ie fat32.
You'll need to use the CD that came with the ipod.

Download the Windows version and then double-click it - chances are it'll be an .EXE file and will automatically do its stuff.

Whoops, I accidently downloaded the MAC one. So, what do I do once it's downloaded? Will it just automatically work?

Are you sure you downloaded the Windows version of the update and not the Mac version?

What extension has the file got?
