I'm trying to download itunes onto my new PC but when I open it up it doesn't find my iPod which is connected. It came up with something like "iTunes could detect your iPod but cannot find the software, please install the software from the CD that came with your iPod or go to www.apple.com/ipod/download".

So I went there and downloaded the update so that my iPod will work with the new iTunes 4.7 but what do I do now? I have a little icon on my destop saying "iPod update" but when I click on it, it says something like "Windows cannot open this file".

What do I do!!!?

Okay.

My iPod is basically empty. I've restored it and now I cant do anything with it, a little folder icon comes up with an exclamation mark next to it.

BTW, what does firmware mean? What is it? Do I need it?

Also, when I quit the updater thing it has all of my iPods details and next to my ipod version it says "Needs update" but I cant update because the update button isn't clickable, I can only click on the Restore button.

Thanks.

I managed to get a bit further until I got to a bit on the updater asking whether I wanted to update or restore, my dad (being the stupid dad that he is) clicked on Restore and now my whole iPod is wiped. I cant even get onto it.

Go to Apple's site - http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ - and have a dig around to see how to do it. I've never used an iPod with Windows so I don't know how to solve your problems.

Is there anyway I could get hold of the iPOD VERSION 4.6 INSTEAD OF THE NEW ONE? Will it make me update it?

It wasn't the iPod I was making the dig at.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Excellent support service!
I have always found the support staff to provide an excellent service on every occasion I've called.
