Brand spanker, off the shelf, well, sort of.

A Dell XPS Dimension with various additions I stipulated. Yes I'm getting my pants pulled down over the price, but I'm a lazy git and I can't be assed either building or saving up for the parts to build my own.

I had a look at Alienwares efforts, but I don't have Liberias defecit in my sky rocket so this monkey will do.

I'm quite happy with what I have created, it's sorely needed as the memory on my wind up fossil here has died and I'm basically sick of the sight of it.

The only real reason I'm telling you is in case you guys have some better suggestions for the use of £1800 with regards to a PC.

I'm talking ready built, not parts. I am more than capable of building one up, but of course I'm a lazy bast so off the shelf is preferable.

Also, how much will I get for :

Pentium 700Mhz
256meg RAM
MX440 GFX Card
No frills sound card
17" monitor
20 gig HD
all the rest fairly standard, but is a full system.

I reckon to build the PC I want, by buying the parts separately would cost approx £1200 nicker. I'm willing to pay extra to have a full system ready to go delivered to my door. I don't have much time and can't be bothered to do it myself. this old girl has had a good innings.

Good point. I'm trying to scrape together £6-700 for a Half Life 2 PC, but that's recycling a lot of parts. Git.

You may be envious until you hear I am taking out a loan. :S

It needs to be done. Any suggestions are welcome though, I don't get it while next week.

Stifle your laughter about the price, I've already had enough tonight.

I'd look at the classified ads in your local paper for a rough guide. People who buy and sell PCs in my local paper have NO clue what things are worth and frequently try and charge four times the market price for a really crappy system that is several years old. I don't know if it will work but it's definitely better than trying to sell it on ebay, where you will get next to nothing.
