Really want to get into it but whenever i join a game i play against people that are some kind of superhumans and die pretty darn quick, any way to play against people of a 'lesser' standard? What does the latency thing mean as well, thanks for your help.

You'll improve, do you normally play many fps games? you gotta remember Counterstrike has been around for ages so your bound to get some decent people on each server.

What connection you on? Try to join the lowest ping servers you can. Also turn off all downloads and anything else that is internet based.

There are loads are newbie servers on 'jolt' they normally run one map over and over so it's a good way to get used to maps and tactics. Then you can jsut switch servers and practice the next map. If not join 'xfire' add some of us to your friends list and that way you'll have some support.

If you get xfire add me 'chippxero'

Hey! There was nothing wrong with my ping of 700 when we played UT while I was on 56k.

Latency/Ping.

It's the time in milliseconds that your connection takes to "ping" the server (send a signal and have it returned).
In short, the smaller the number the better. Ideally, you want something around 40, not really much more than 150 max.
