With films such as Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Bridget Jones Diary, this country has shown that it is more than capable of matching the films coming from the U.S.

Imagine if this country had the cash available like Hollywood does to invest in its films ! But even without the huge constant flow of money and massive studios, the people in the film industry here have proved that a huge budget can't beat a damn good story !

Lock, Stock and also Snatch are 2 of the best films I've seen in ages and I'm hoping to see Bridget Jones soon too. Guy Ritchie has done us proud and I hope he gets even more success with future films.

Of course there are plenty of British Actors / Actresses abroad doing well for themselves, but its even nicer to see them in films that have been made in this country because it shows we have both the Actors and film makers to match Hollywoods.

Maybe over time, if people start investing more in our film industry, we'll see great quality films coming out regularly like the ones I've mentioned. Just think of the special effects we'll be able to pull off too ;-)
Afterall, we did the effects for the Star Wars films. They might not be as spectacular as the ones we see now, but considering these effects are from the late 70's, early 80's, they were the best around at the time !

Heres to our film industry ! Long may it continue ! :-)

From little acorns mighty oak trees grow. Hope more of you will join this as course progresses to swap ideas about Everyday Life and ontological security. Is it good or bad that part of many people's everyday is now conducted in this virtual world. It is certainly a world were people under 25 feel at home, I think.

Hi all

I'm Jackie. I'm 53. I work full-time in my second career and live in South East Northumberland with my third husband. Blissfully, four children and step-children have now all flown the nest.

This is my fifth OU course. I've already completed DD100 and 3 Social Policy courses: D218, DD305 and D315. I really struggled to decide which course to do next as there were so many that interested me and I know I'll enjoy this one.

Good luck everyone.

Jackie

Hi Jacquie & Laura
I am Joanne, I'm 30 and living in Gateshead with my husband and two children.
I completed DD100 in June and have been looking forward to starting this course, though I'm finding I'm having to juggle for time more than I did with DD100 due to changing circumstances, hopefully I can keep on top of everything.
Best of luck everyone

Hello everyone,
My name is Laura. I live in Luxembourg but I'm Italian. I'm 47 years old and I work full time. I'm dealing with numbers every day so I hope to switch my brain to something totally different with DD201.
Anyone else 'as young as me?
Nice evening
Laura

Dear Students,

I am very much a novice at this. I am trying an experiment. I was waiting for an OU forum to be created but delay has made me set up my own. This should link to website www.jacquiecroker.co uk lets see.
