You’ve reached the online home of Neo Magazine, the UK’s new and exciting guide to Japanese pop culture.

The first issue hits the shelves of all good newsagents and stockists like WHSmith and Borders on 25th November 2004, and will include in-depth features on the latest anime hits like Dead Leaves.

Fans of Japanese movies like Ring and Dark Water should check out Neo’s feature on the Americanisation of latest box-office smash, The Grudge.

If manga’s your thing, then Neo will be your essential guide to the past-and-present output of publishers like Viz, Tokyopop and Dark Horse Comics.

You can even win a snowboard thanks to www.crazyninja.com, and watch all the movies you want free for two weeks courtesy of www.moviemine.com!

And that’s not all… the first issue alone has features on Chiaki Kuriyama (Go Go Yubari from Kill Bill), a feature on the convoluted 10-year Tekken family saga in time for the launch of Tekken 5, an interview with ADV Films’ voice actress Monica Rial, feature on the 20 year-old TV series created by Hayao (Spirited Away) Miyazaki, J-Pop profile on Ayumi Hamasaki, previews, reviews, an all-new comic strip and much, much more.

So what do you think? Will you be getting it? The last anime magazine, Manga Max finished in 2000 promising to appear again in the new year, but that never happened. Shame because after that anime and manga became more popular and there was a lot more exposure on UK tv.

I'm suprised we're only hearing about this magazine now as usually something like this doesnt usually sneak up without people knowing. Espcially as they would have got the interview with Monica Rial when she came to that summer UK convention Amecon.

I've always wanted a new anime magazine, though a UK Newtype would have been nice. Hopefully it'll promote anime and manga better in the UK. Those anime fans on here who have only ever seen Ghost in the Shell and Akira will finally be introduced to the many 100s of other decent animes. And those fans on here who have never even read a manga will get a chance to see what the fuss is about. The Jfilms and Jmusic is a plus atleast it's not hong kong martial arts film like Manga Max did (though still good).

I'm sure I'll get my brother to buy it, he bought all the other anime mags. Hopefully it'll be quiet good, no doubt if they promote the UK anime conventions they'll fill up within days because there are too many fans and only small conventions (thanks to the organisers who would rather have a select few friends as a con rather than something big like in America)

Congrats on missing my point completely.
Here, have a medal.

You said the magazine talks about asian films.

But now you're rambling on about US remakes of these asian films.

God almighty.

Actually Azul's point stands.

You are were initially talking about "asian" films, then you were talking about "asian remakes" in America, which are therefore technically American films...

¬_¬ for crying out loud Azul you're such a bloody retard.

Japanese films have become popular in recent years

Americans have made their own versions because of the increasing popularity.

Japanese films are still popular despite these American versions.

Movies, Music, TV and Books forum have had many threads about the Ring films and Battle Royale and many other Japanese movies.

Japanese films like Hong Kong films and Korean films have become more popular since several years ago.

The magazine although mainly focusing on Japanese films is also looking at how Americans have been remaking them. In the first issue they go into detail about The Grudge.

I was just clearing up what M@rk had posted.

The magazine covers Asian films. Some of these can be purchased in the UK or imported easily. They will either be dubbed or subbed versions in to English usually.

Some of the people and companies that work on different animes and mangas may work on other projects. Fans of these may wish to look in to the other work done by them. The magazine helps highlight some of their work.

Have been remade into "US versions".

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
