Most genres have similar games in them like RPG's Aiyden Chronicles you look at the genre and you know basically what youre gonna get from the game.

Can you think of any new genres??

Abut 4-5 of these have been attempted over the past 20 years (not including Bullfrogs doomed effort)...

Although the original idea comes from pen and paper rpg's that allow for the same thing... (although why noones just converted one of these is a touch of a mytery?)

You are kidding, right?

I'm sure an idea very similar was once posted in the 'New Game Ideas' forum.

I've just put it back to the top of the list in the Game Ideas and Console Wars, in fact, so you can check it out.

I don't know, firstly I discover that there's a game called Intergalactic Bounty Hunter coming soon (I'll pop that too later) and now this!

New genre's seem to be popping up quite often these days.
Extermination on the PS2 would be a good example, as it has been labelled as a panic action game (although it still looks like a survival horror to me).

There are still several sports that haven't been explored yet. OK, so 'sports' is a genre anyway, but still, there several sports that haven't had a game based on it.

My favourite genre is beat-em-up, so a new style of this genre would please me. Flying beat-em-ups have been explored already;Zone of the Enders is a good example and I believe Psycic Force was also a flying beat-em-up. There has never really been an outstanding 3D scrolling beat em up, so maybe this genre could be spruced up to be made better.

I'm still looking forward to that game about Super Heroes (Freedom Force) apparently it's not out till November though. I've read that you get to make up your own super heroes and decide what powers they have. I'm not sure but I think you get certain points to spend on your party and can have negative traits so that you can balance out with some superb ones. If you get to spread all the points through your whole party you could have one hero called "Allergy Boy" Who suffers from every negative power availiable (aversion to kryptonite, bad fashion sense... Actually all super heroes seem to have that trait) and then the rest of your team could be great! Sounds fun.

Of course the most fun will be making up ridiculous names for your characters. And making up old ones too I suppose (Personally I would choose The Tick).

Ok, how about a flying beat em up.

A normal beat em up where the characters fly around a landscape. You can hide behind scenery or smash it up.

This could be used for Superman or Dragonball Z games.
The control system would be tricky to get right but if some develloper manages it then it could make for an interesting game.
