I've got a atapi 52X max cd rw but now it wont seem to be able to copy anything. Is this because i need to update it or something else?

I cant see anywhere where it says if it is burnproof or not, all it says is what i've already written.

Start menu > Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager

OR

My Computer > Right-click on CDRW > Properties > Hardware

Basically if it isn't Burn-proof, you may have fried the burning laser, meaning it's useless.

All i know is ATAPI CD-RW 52X MAX.
Is there any more to find out?

What make is it? And the model number too, if you can,
