I'm desperately needing a new HDD, and have had my eye on one for some time now. So, I went to order it and...

...that sucks.

So I was wondering if any of you could recommend me a particular drive.
Maxtor would be nice, but I'm really not bothered as long as it's 120GB+ (the above was 200) and is reliable and quiet and the likes.
Cheers people.

Yeah, quick arithmetic shows that it is indeed the difference between marketing values and computer values.

Probably either a BIOS limitation, or more likely Samsung view a Gigabyte as 1,000,000,000 bytes as opposed to the real computing 1,073,741,824 bytes.

I'm currently using a Samsung HDD, 120GB. Very good, only it cuts off 9GBs for some reason. Nice and quiet too.

However, I did find that most HDDs over 120GB cost £50+. Luckily, I also found a nice little Maxtor 120GB at just under. Well it's better than a £50+ Seagate Barracuda.

Anyhoo, here it is - (http://www.simply.co.uk/kelkoo/[ space ]64988/VS/simply_computers/index.htm).

Sorry, too big to link.

But yeah, looks OK.

Recently discovered Samsung HDD. Quiet, low profile and cheap. Quite impressed.
