Channel 4 have today confirmed that cult cartoon The Simpsons will make its network premiere on Bonfire Night, November 5.

The themed night of programming will begin at 9pm with two new episodes from season 12, 'A Tale of Two Springfields' and 'Tree House of Horror XI'. At 10pm, a documentary called The Ultimate Guide To The Simpsons will chart the success of the show, with contributions from Eddie Izzard, Green Wing star Tamsin Greig and Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carte, as well as the cast and crew.

At 11pm, Jamie Theakston will host The Simpsons' Quiz Show, a comedy panel show with Ralph Little, Sara Cox, Iain Lee, Richard Bacon, Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Nick Frost - all diehard Simpsons fans who are tested on their knowledge of the show using some of the funniest clips from the past 15 years.

From November 8, C4 will air older episodes of the show each weeknight at 6pm, while the terrestrial premieres of season 12 episodes will be seen Fridays at 9pm.

Sky is very good, but being forced into a minimum 12 Month contract is not.

I suppose this is good news for people like me who only have terrestrial TV. But then, what do you excpect if the North Downs are a few hundred yards away?

A whole night of the Simpsons? BBC2 tried doing that once. 'Twas good, but this one loooks superior.

I havent watched it on Sky for awhile but the ad breaks do seem long and they start up almost as quickly as they did with the old Star Trek series. 3 minutes into it and oh look time for some ads.

BBC2 showed episodes that had more scenes than those shown on Sky, so heaven nows how much (and if) Channel 4 will cut, we'll have to wait and see.

Good to see the Simpsons back on the main channels, just a shame the BBC lost them - not that I mind the adverts but I hope Channel 4 don't go nuts on putting two advert breaks in on every episode (never watched it on Sky One - do the adverts break it up too much?)

Anyway, it couldn't come too soon, I turn on at 6pm now...

"Oh, Friends...again"

Friends is good but it gets a bit tiring. Incidentally I'll put money that BBC2 are gonna be screening the Fresh Prince for another 10 years - the pikeys.

So yeah, replacing Friends both the 6pm slot and old 9pm on Friday. For some these will be new episodes, for others, rather old. Still I shall be watching their Simpsons Night as well as celebrating the day some Guy blew up Par-lia-ment and saved us from the evil oppressive King
