I have this program located in C:/ called "ldr" which runs whenever I run internet explorer and downloads dialer viruses, which I imagine arent very good. my AVG picks it up always, but it just keeps appearing.

Any ideas of how I can get rid of it once and for all?

Any help is appreciated.

Does the service pack contains all ofthe updates?

and also does the service pack try and register with Microsoft or ask for a serial number, etc?

I've taken a few objects from running upon system startup in my temporary files - which I assume were dialers or something.

I also have an item called "Yfk8.exe" which runs with my system located in system32 - which may or may not be dodgy. Anyone know what it is?

As far as i now you can only check my running the auto-update and checking what you need.

You should try downloading service pack 2 from a utilities site.
