It appears I HAVE to use the USB modem supplied otherwise I can't connect, so my current router (which is used to basically replace modems by having all the connection info stored on it) isn't working with the setup.
So, probably a really simple question: can I get a router that'll accept the modem that doesn't need to store the connection information and will allow me to get on live (and where's the best deal)?
Anyone had similar problems with BT?
Links appreciated.
(I expect this is a really simple question to answer but I've been dependent on routers which store the connection info up 'til now)
I'm getting a new one.
It's strange because the router works fine for me...
And it sounds like you have the same broadband set-up that I have.
For me the setup was really easy.
Simply the username - your btbroadband email address and the password.

Hmmmm. That actually sounds better since the BT line didn't seem to like me trying to share the two through my router.

Because I've put all the connection info on the router correctly and it doesn't work. However it does work with the modem that came with the BT stuff. It doesn't seem to want to work through the router.
Mabye my router's died.

That's the router I currently have that isn't working with the BT setup. :S
The one you linked to would do the job, but it's only 1 port, so you would need to switch between PC and Xbox all the time, meaning you can't have both connected at the same time.
We got the Zoom ADSL router (compatable with Xbox Live, although I still haven't gotten an Xbox for it yet! :-)) and that worked just fine.
The one you've linked to looks fine to me.
It does say that it has the modem inbuilt (I think that most do nowdays).
Give it a go. There's sure to be a 30 day garauntee to fall back on if it doesn't work.
Is this one? It says it's a modem router but it doesn't say it has a built in modem.
Unless I'm reading it wrong.
