It isn't a war. Consoles make peoples day happier. Sure, the corporates strive to make theirs the best selling, and sign multi-million dollar deals with companies to grab the latest games (Ahem, Microsoft) but if your Megadrive brings you a smile, then it's already won.
Very quickly after I got my PS2, I thought, "this is great, I have the most powerful games console ever made". My jaw dropped a few times, but then I thought "am I enjoying this more than my PSone?" answer? No.
Graphics will get better, technology will improve, and bots will get smarter. Soon (ish) we'll be jacking to the Matrix, and living separate lives inside our PlayStation 8 s. But will we enjoy it anymore? No.
Megadrives had possibly a hundreth of the power of a PlayStation 2, but does that mean Sonic the Hedgehog was any worse? No.
You buy whatever console you want. Some have bad games, all have great games. All that matters is that you have fun.
Whatever makes you happy

I know what my answer would be.

No, not the same game. But the same machine, definately. If they still made MegaDrive games, I would still play them.
By your reasoning, Sonic 3 is pants, but it's a damnsight better than a lot of the tosh you get these days

Capitalism?
Are these companies tickling each others toes with a feather to see which is the best console?? I don't think so (If they did that would be rather disturbing). In a way they are fighting a war, but it is not just a war for which console is the best, it is a war for the survival of the companies, and it seems that sega have lost.

A thing to think about before you make your decision, is how many time you can replay the game before you get bored. How you like the game:a great game which is short or a great gam which is longer.

No, but possibly the only 15 year old who is officially a member of the conservative party
PS You need to sort the newline thing out with the indents. Just replace for newlines before every x spaces. If you give me the code fragment for the whole indent thing, I will sort it for you. I'm guessing you use a split() and for every xth string you do $string[x] = "> "+string[x].
Am I right?
Just after this, as I was nursing my wounds, a sawn-off Dreamcast produced a series of lethal flying GD-ROM discs and I had to duck for fear of being decapitated. A N64 cartridge grenade landed just behind me and I luckily moved just in time before it exploded and destroyed a piece of the road.
As I dusted myself down I looked around. Everything was quiet, except for a small whining noise that got gradually louder and higher in pitch. I looked up to the sky just in time to see a gameboy color falling faster and faster through the sky towards the battling consoles. It obliterated everything in it's path, leaving rubble and console parts everywhere.
And they say there isn't a console war. It's a goverment coverup if you ask me!
"Groinal Area: feeds minus 8"
Wouldn't that imply that I've already... err... "fed" eight people?
(Did you know that a caterpillar eats over twenty tons of food each day?)
No! I didn't... is that right?
(No. I just needed to defend myself somehow. Lying seemed like a good idea.)
Oh. So it doesn't eat that much then.
(No.)
Ok.
