That's EXACTLY my point.
Someone came to this Madden 2005 topic, when no-one was even talking about the game, and asked about Madden. I said "You're who with the what now?", which I found it both entertaining AND educating.
> something about Madden which isn't true
You obviously haven't played it (enough) yet.
It's the same thing, except history books now = cheats.
Yes. Funny. Hilarious. Highlight of my year.
The question "Where are the history books" isn't really something that can have a joke made out of it, except maybe by saying "In the history section"
"What are you talking about" isn't funny. It's stupid.

No, joke being just the Statement part.
Have you ever seen the episode of Buffy where the gang are talking about the latest Big Bad in the library as usual, when some students come in and say "Where are the history books?"?
Xander says: "What are you talking about?". This is FUNNY, in fact it's the highlight of the entire series and is almost a microcosm of the show itself. It represents the style of the show, highlighting the clever sarcasm, comedy, high-school lifestyle, and paranormal aspects in the show. Subsequently it's one of the most important jokes in televisual history, and concordantly our popular culture would be poorer without it.
So thats why my joke (which was very similar to the one above) is
A) Funny
B) Important in the bigger picture of things
C) A significant contribution to the joys of excellent comedy
Capish?

Fixed.
