There's the whole thing about Man Utd fans screaming that Arsenal are a 1 man team, what with that striker.

But suddenly, Rio returns after a long departure, and suddenly "Manchester United's season starts here", and so on.

Gotta love the hypocrisy of football.

thing is though, the reason his return spurred the team on, is not because of one man team, but simply his return. like when cantona came back - not one man team, as there were many grreat players (hughes, pallister, kanchelskis)

It was expected from certain people after how influential henry was in them winning the league.

United got the same label when Cantona won the league with his genius. Blakburn with Shearer, Roma with Batistuta, and Maradona with Napoli.

Its always gonna happen when one genius player stands out like that.

Woah woah woah - towards the end of last season, there were plenty of disgruntled Man Utd fans screaming that Arsenal were a one man team, and that without Henry, they'd be nothing.

It may not be a nice thing to say, but the are one big part of `The Media´, after all. Of course you're gonna hear things like this. Fans saying that is what's gonna attract interest. And, the more people hear it, the more people are gonna stand-up and take notice.


Saying "our season starts here!" is rather stupid, I must admit. But, when you look at Rio Ferdinand, and how his pressence re-assembles our shattered defence, it does kind of begin to make sense...
Well, it sounds a heck-of-a-lot better than the 'a la Cantona' crap I've heard about in the newspapers! :P

It's fantastic to have Rio Ferdinand back, at long last. But, myself, and many other United fans too, know we still have other problems to solve elsewhere.

of course it's not just because Rio has returned. It's because so many of our players have been out injured/suspended/on int duty and everyone is just about returning so finally we have a chance to field a full team for a change.

Please, Stu, stop ruining perfect points with impossible and rubbish suggestions. I know you're Scouse and everything, but come on. At least make an effort.
