I'm thinking of getting a wireless network set up so I can use the broadband attached to the downstairs pc on my one so I can play games etc.

(I was thinking of getting a 54MBps Buffalo PCI card)

Am I right in thinking if you just wanna link two pcs you only need two wireless network cards, no accesspoint etc required?

lol... there's only really two computers that need conected right now.

If i decide to let my dad leech my broadband connection for his work, I'll just buy another card and get a 3COM router probably.... meant to get good pings with those ones too, which will be useful for gaming...

Nothing like having a quick game of CS in the park a mile away from your connection, even more impressive when there's 3 of you sat there doing the same thing and getting a tan at the same time!

Or you could get several of them with really long extension wires and sort of use them as staging posts to get back to civilisation.

With that sort of range I'd be able to use my laptop to access my WLAN in the coffee shop down the road where I spend far too much time. That'd save me £3 a shot compared to using theirs. Might be worth it actually.
