The missus' sister has got a PC which her daughter uses, on average, about 25 hours a day and has managed to cover it in spyware and it does funny things like pop-up porn sites and shutdown at seemingly random times. She's asked me to give her some advice on how to protect the PC and she's quite willing to pay for the software/hardware (and put it through the husband's business ;^).

So, can I get some recommendations on the best software to buy, i.e. antivirus, firewall etc., please? Also, would buying a new modem/router help at all? She's currently using the one that came with her BT broadband connection.

Thanks.

PrevX

https://www.prevx.com/homeoffice/homeoffice_homedownload.htm

• Stop ‘Buffer Overflow’ attacks used by Internet worms (such as Sasser) and hackers
• Stop the installation of malicious files
• Stop malicious modification of critical files and directories
• Stop frequently used attacks on Internet Explorer
• Stop unauthorized changes to critical areas of the registry
• Stop covert modification of start-up scripts

Home computer users remain vulnerable to each new (‘Zero Day’) cyber-attack during the critical period between the launch of a new attack and a “signature” update becoming available. Spyware tools only detect and clean up installed malware AFTER the infection has happened. Often threats are missed entirely by traditional security tools.

Prevx Home STOPS ‘Zero Day’, Spyware and hack attacks and STOPS malicious software from installing on your PC.

Home version is Free.
Prevx Home is a compact version Prevx Enterprise packaged for home user desktops. Prevx Enterprise secures Linux, Solaris, Windows servers and corporate desktops
