I can't believe it, the rumours were true. I checked out the DVD of Return of the Jedi today and can confirm that Hayden Moronman has been plonked in as Anakin Skywalker in the final celebration scenes. I can pretend to justify it, and say that they brought back his lightside image, the one he last remembers himself as, but that assumes he somehow forgets what happens at the end of Jedi. He is Anakin for the final few minutes, so why not leave the film as it was? Gah! Anyway, its not the end of the world really, but a little annoying. I just hope they left the rest of the film alone!

Obviously it is there to tie the trilogys together...

But if you were Anakin would you rather be seen as some burnt freak?

Come on, he obviously reverted back to the form he was in before his "incident".

I just prefer to think that it is a sad attempt to tie the two trilogy's together

Yeah, but i think they are trying to say his spirit died or something like that.

Because Anakin supposedly died before becoming Darth Vader, and because Obi-Wan's been ubergood, we can see him as he was when he died.

Or something.

Why does Anakin come back as a young ghost when Obi-Wan is stuck with being an old codger for the rest of eternity?

Heh! Well, those natural causes can come along at the strangest of times! Still, I've had a little time to process it, and I guess I'm not massively annoyed by it now. The change should only affect a few seconds worth of the film.

I actually just watched episode IV, and although all the special edition stuff was there, the rest of the movie hadn't been affected in a bad way at all. Everything actually looked very nice and shiny. The sound in particular was excellent.

I talked to someone today who said he thought that the new changes were "cool".

Needless to say, he promptly died of natural causes.
