"Return of the Jedi.... No!!!!!"

I can't believe it, the rumours were true. I checked out the DVD of Return of the Jedi today and can confirm that Hayden Moronman has been plonked in as Anakin Skywalker in the final celebration scenes. I can pretend to justify it, and say that they brought back his lightside image, the one he last remembers himself as, but that assumes he somehow forgets what happens at the end of Jedi. He is Anakin for the final few minutes, so why not leave the film as it was? Gah! Anyway, its not the end of the world really, but a little annoying. I just hope they left the rest of the film alone!

Alas, the Star Wars Christmas Special has been left off the DVD set.

If Endor was populated by Wookies, ROTJ would have been the greatest film ever made. Not sure that the Emperor would choose such a place to locate his shield generator though.

Ewoks rule!

I don't mind the Ewoks either to be honest. Its hard to imagine any other native species fitting in to the movies as well as the Ewoks did. Other species that potentially may have spoken Basic would have just asked too many questions. :)

I really like the Ewoks aswell. They're cute, they're cool, they're mint in a fight. Every young boy's favourite playmate...

But I can't force myself to like Jar Jar Binks!!!

Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan is like geekily boring and stuff, so he stays old, because a hip mofo, and Yoda just picked with Eeny Meeny Miney Mo because he was always cool.

I must confess, I really like the Ewoks. I'm sorry, but it's true and I never, ever found them annoying.

I still think that when Darth Vader picked up the Emperor, and chucked him down towards that reactor core that he was back to his lightside self. He may still be injured (which if Episode 3 follows what the later books have suggested, is due to Obi-wan forcing him into lava at some point in their battle), and he might still be blackened inside after years of evil evil naughtiness, but he saves Luke, and probably has a decent hand in saving the universe (again the books speculate that the Emperor had such control over his troops through the force that when he died, it caused all his fleet to fall apart).

What he did just before he died, including asking Luke to tell his sister that "you were right" and all that, should mean that he appears in spirit form as the Anakin we see right before he died. Instead we have Hayden Moronman, but I guess its excusable if they are allowed to choose what form they take.

Obi-wan would choose the form that Luke recognises, as would Yoda, which explains why they come back as older beings, where as Anakin might prefer Luke to see him as he once was, rather than the slightly darker version. This is the explanation I've chosen to accept, since it doesn't sit well with me if I just say that its a simple way to tie the prequels to the originals.

Sounds interesting... if it's done stylishly.
